welcome baby ella | austin birth photographer | mollie kendall photography

Recently I photographed another birth, just as wonderful as the others I’ve done, but with a special element for me. I’ve known this mom since our oldest children were 3 and playing mini soccer and tball together. Six years we have been friends. And while our children are now older and we don’t get to see each other as often, I still consider her one of my best friends. I love her girls. The are so beautiful, both inside and out, and ever caring for everyone and everything around them. Seeing them grow and become young ladies is special for me. But to get to witness their family grow in this way, on this day, was absolutely amazing. I am so beyond happy… for all five of them! ♥

Mom was having a planned c-section so I started the session in their home to get some photos of them getting ready for the hospital. People have asked me if hiring a professional photographer for a c-section is necessary. To me, it’s no more less important than any other hospital, birthing center or home birth. The reason you hire someone for this occasion is not only for that few minutes when the baby makes her appearance into the world, it’s the entire story that you want to capture. It is a week’s worth of emotion packed into one day. There are a hundred little details that you can’t rely on Uncle Bill or Gramma to photograph. It’s a moment you will want to remember every second of, for the rest of your life. That is why this type of work is so important to me. To be able to capture this priceless time and give it to a family for a lifetime, is precious.

Below are a few favorite moments and a slideshow to get a glimpse of their day. Enjoy.

ethan’s arrival | austin birth photographer | mollie kendall photography

for a long time I thought there was nothing more amazing than photographing a wedding.
well there is… a birth!
birth photography is just so special to me.
the day is filled with so much anticipation. worry. excitement. stress. pain. laughter.
with as much emotion involved in the day, it goes by in a blink. because honestly, it’s just one single day.
and to have it documented on film is precious.
it will last your lifetime.

Thank you Trang, Gary and new baby Ethan! I will hold a piece of your day in my heart forever.

2010 Revisited | Mollie Kendall Photography

Another year gone. I know it’s awfully cliche to say ‘where did the time go’ or ‘how time flies’, but it’s true.
I was very blessed throughout 2010 to keep busy with some really fantastic clients and talented colleagues! Thank you to you all!!

I wanted to make another year in review slideshow as I did last year but really had a hard time choosing one image from each session.  So I picked two!
So here they are.  My favorite two images from 50 sessions.
They span birth sessions, maternity, newborns, children, first birthday cake smashes, couples, high school seniors, families, commercial, weddings… and even a session at the end with my own kids. {grin}

I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I had reliving them! I’m looking forward to amazing time in 2011! Happy New Year!!

welcome to this world | austin birth photographer

A couple weeks ago I was again blessed to be able to photograph another baby’s entrance into the world. Mom and Dad already hired me for a newborn photography session and in the last days before her delivery, we arranged for me to be at their baby’s birth as well.

I cannot even begin to tell you how extraordinary these sessions are. It’s a moment that is truly a miracle. Each birth is unique to anything else we’ll ever experience in our lives and I feel so so privileged to capture this time for the family. To be able to document every. single. important. moment. of this day for them is just amazing! It is something the family can look back on and remember always. And honestly, these are moments that *I* will carry for many many years to come. It’s such an honor. Thank you Lindsay and Tom for allowing me to be a part of this special day!
