2010 Revisited | Mollie Kendall Photography

Another year gone. I know it’s awfully cliche to say ‘where did the time go’ or ‘how time flies’, but it’s true.
I was very blessed throughout 2010 to keep busy with some really fantastic clients and talented colleagues! Thank you to you all!!

I wanted to make another year in review slideshow as I did last year but really had a hard time choosing one image from each session. So I picked two!
So here they are. My favorite two images from 50 sessions.
They span birth sessions, maternity, newborns, children, first birthday cake smashes, couples, high school seniors, families, commercial, weddings… and even a session at the end with my own kids. {grin}

I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I had reliving them! I’m looking forward to amazing time in 2011! Happy New Year!!

I recently took maternity photos of Nikki, her husband Jay and baby bump Tennyson. Because she was a bit nervous, and having a had her baby shower including many very longtime friends in the day before, Nikki brought along some of her BFFs to the session. Clearly this was not needed as Miss Nikki rocked her session out! But, we still got a giggle out of Nikki’s entourage wandering around the park carrying clothes and bags and camera gear. This group being “theater people” as she titled them, made for an extra fun photo session.. we did a lot of laughing! Thanks Nikki and Jay! I had fun and I seriously cannot WAIT to meet Tennyson and take his newborn pictures.

welcome sweet baby | austin birth photographer

My favorite session types happen to be the milestones in life. Wedding, newborns, high school seniors… all things you in no way want to forget! Birth is growing in popularity and I think one of the most important moments to capture. It may even jump right to the top. Capturing those memories to hold onto long after the fog of the delivery has passed, is priceless.

A couple weeks ago I had my first birth photography session. I wasn’t nervous about the session itself but more the details such as: will I get there in time? will I get there too early? will it happen at 3 am? will it last 3 hours or 36? will I get a call while I’m in the middle of a game and all suited up and sweaty? Lots of unknowns. I did end up with the 3am phone call but luckily, in my excited nervous preparation, had managed to steal 24 hours of sleep in the 2 days prior to labor.

Yah, you read that right. 24. I was ready.

Mom wanted to have a home birth so that is where my job began. After a while, plans changed and we ended up at the hospital by 8am. With mom having a c-section and the hospital only allowing one person in the room because of the observing interns, the midwife and I had to wait outside. I didn’t get that “money shot” so to speak but I saw the most amazingly beautiful baby boy within a few minutes of his birth. It was a seriously wonderful moment for everyone there. I’m so happy to have been able to experience this with them ♥

Inside that beautiful pregnant belly is a sweet baby girl. She has no idea how much her mommy is looking forward to meeting her and dressing her all in pink. I’ll admit… I can’t wait for her arrival either! I have several brand new pink hats and wraps just waiting for her Mom was simply a natural at this modeling thing. Even while only a few weeks away from baby’s appearance, mom is completely smokin’ gorgeous.
