2013 calendar = helping homeless animals | austin pet photographer | mollie kendall photography

Recently I was contacted by The Austin Humane Society to ask if I would donate time to help them with their annual fundraising calendar. They had a contest for owners and their new the pets who were adopted in the past year. The top 14 winners were assigned a photographer for their pet’s very own photography shoot to appear in the 2013 fundraising calendar.  I was assigned Percy the cat and had a great time photographing him out on his beautiful property!

If you haven’t purchased your new 2013 calendar, or simply need a second calendar for the office, it is now available through the **Austin Humane Society**. Go order yours today and help support the humane society in their efforts to care for Austin’s homeless animals while finding them their very own forever homes!

Here are just a few of the photos from Percy’s photo shoot.

HSWCs Look Book project | austin pet photographer | mollie kendall photography

I’m so excited to finally be able to share a project I helped with last month for the Humane Society of Williamson County! The Look Book project is set up to continually feature the longest residents of the animal shelter in an effort to find them their very own forever homes. Puppies and Kittens come and go and often the older animals are overlooked. People think that they must be there because they have behavior issues or medical problems. This is not always the case. They lose their homes and end up at the shelter for many different reasons… most of them having nothing to do with problems the dog/cat has, but rather with those of the person or family surrendering them.  Some become homeless because their first owners do not have enough time for them, a change in work schedule, a new baby, need to move to a place where pets are not allowed, allergies… The list goes on.  I have to tell you that it is really hard for me to walk out of the shelter without some of these animals every time I visit.  They are the sweetest and really long for a warm and loving home. If you need a pet, please consider adoption.  I personally have 3 shelter animals and they were the best decision I ever made ♥

You can read in more detail about each of the animals below in The Look Book on the shelters website.

haute dog sessions contest | austin pet photographer | mollie kendall photography

So if you have been keeping up with this blog or follow my Facebook page, you heard about The Haute Dog Sessions we did at the beginning of the month. The charity sessions raised money to benefit The Humane Society of Williamson County and in exchange we gave a 20 minute photography session for the donor’s furry friend/s and a free 5×7. All together we photographed 20 dogs on March 3rd! It was both extremely fun and super exhausting, and in the end, we raised $805 for the HSWC!! We couldn’t be more thrilled knowing how much help that money can provide the shelter!  Super big thanks to Diane of Just Dawg It for helping with the pups during the shoots!

So here they are!! {drum roll….} I have chosen my favorite photo ♥ from each family. Please place your vote for your favorite Haute Dog in the voting box below the photos. The numbers for each pet are above the image. The winner will receive a complimentary 11×14 of their pet/s!!

One vote per person please. Duplicates will be removed. Voting will close on March 25th, 2012 at 11:59pm. The winner will be announced via email and here on the blog.

I am SUPER excited to share a new set of charity sessions, with your pet as the star, that will help raise money for The Humane Society of Williamson County!
There is no session fee! Make a donation of $30+ for the shelter and receive a free session for your pet and a 5×7 of your favorite image!

The process is simple.

  1. Book your time slot with me on Saturday, March the 3rd.
  2. Follow the link below and make your donation of $30 {or more if you like!} directly to this events page on HSWC’s website.  Remember, your charitable donation is tax deductible!
  3. Print your donation receipt and bring a copy to your session!
  4. Your pet will have a 15 minute photography session in which we will capture  some adorable shots of your furry family member!
  5. Receive a 5×7 of your pet’s best shot!

Now, in my best As Seen On TV voice… ‘But wait, there’s more!’
After the sessions are finished, we will have a contest for the cutest photo! One image from each session will be posted on our Facebook page and go to a vote.  The photo with the most ‘likes’ will receive a free mounted 11×14!

If you have ever thought of a photography session for your pup, now is the perfect time but book early, sessions are limited! Help a shelter provide for their furry friends and get some great photographs of your pet!
