I love all newborn sessions but I’m not even going to exaggerate when I tell you that this was THE easiest session with a baby I’ve ever had. EVER!

Maybe it’s because Miss Emma and I had already had the pleasure of meeting when I photographed her birth days before. Her place in the spotlight in front of my camera was already old hat. With 12 props used, four backgrounds, zero #1 accidents, zero #2 accidents, ZERO awake time (no lie) and only an hour and a half shooting… she will forever be my favorite baby on earth. I moved her from place to place, from outfit to outfit and even with a broken clavicle, she never stirred. I seriously doubt anyone will ever beat that.

It certainly doesn’t slow my favoritism in the slightest that this little 6 day old beauty was a complete doll baby.

A couple weeks ago I was again blessed to be able to photograph another baby’s entrance into the world. Mom and Dad already hired me for a newborn photography session and in the last days before her delivery, we arranged for me to be at their baby’s birth as well.

I cannot even begin to tell you how extraordinary these sessions are. It’s a moment that is truly a miracle. Each birth is unique to anything else we’ll ever experience in our lives and I feel so so privileged to capture this time for the family. To be able to document every. single. important. moment. of this day for them is just amazing! It is something the family can look back on and remember always. And honestly, these are moments that *I* will carry for many many years to come. It’s such an honor. Thank you Lindsay and Tom for allowing me to be a part of this special day!

I have so much fun with first birthday cake smash sessions. Kids are hilarious anyway, but give them a big pile of sugar with full permissions and well it can only = fun. You really can’t guarantee much with it. Some kids love it. Some kids could care less. But you can guarantee that it’s me, mom and dad pretty much laughing for 45 minutes straight.

This session was twice as interesting. Two kids, one cake. I fully expected an all out baby brawl over it but to my surprise, neither seemed to care too much. They were having more fun with each others hats and their newly acquired crawling skills. I tried to peek their interest in the cake by selflessly helping myself to bites and making endless yummy noises, but they could not be tempted. Such good babies!!

These twins are so adorable! I couldn’t wait to get to play with them again for our family session a few weeks later. Here are some photos from our cake smash session.

Ahhhh, twins!

I loved these two little guys.
I loved how easily they slept throughout the session.
I loved how different they looked and that I didn’t have to color code them
I loved that they didn’t pee on me even once, even though naked most of our session. {sorry to my assistant who got the brunt of my perk}
I loved how totally laid back and calm their parents were, as if having twins was old hat.
I loved that their mommy was an auction winner at the Austin Mother of Multiples group fundraiser.
I loved that they allowed me into their home to capture these moments and add decor to their home.
I loved. Just loved.

If I didn’t already love babies enough, along comes sweet little Lauren.
I did photos for her big brother Luke a couple years ago.
Lauren was beautiful to look at, was a perfect little sleeper the entire time, held her poses all on her own and didn’t pee on me once!!
A girl’s gotta love that.

Weeeee! I’ve been crazy lately with my kids, their school work, my work work, taxes, my hockey games… just plain busy! I’d like to catch up the blog for a sec and share a recent beautiful Austin family session. Little 7 month old Jack is just more adorable than should be allowed. He was so stinkin’ funny… he didn’t like to sit on the grass, at all! He’d get this very determined and concerned look on his face, crinkling his little forehead, and just start pulling and pulling the grass up. Put him on the ground on a blanket? Happy as a clam All smiles showing off his two little teeth. We decided that he was going to grow up to own a landscaping company some day. {wink}

Gallery Mount Sale | austin childrens photographer

As every parent in this area does each April, the time is upon us to plop kids in a field of bluebonnets and get the traditional “spring photo”. I was *dead set* that this year I was NOT doing the bluebonnet thing. As most photographer’s kids, my crew is very anti-photo session. And with me being so busy this month, I decided to just avoid the headache and take a stand. No bluebonnets for my kids. No to the client inquiries for bluebonnet mini sessions. Just going to skip it aaaaall together!

Enter the grandparents.

So I caved. And I’ll have to admit… I’m kind of glad I did. Especially once I found out there was a gallery mount sale going on with my lab I will be getting some of my shots mounted and as I prep my order… I’d like to prep yours too! Just a couple weeks back I met these beautiful sweet twins. They were born 4 weeks before and while usually pictures this late are a challenge, these two were on excellent behavior for their first photo session. I just loved cuddling them and taking their photos ♥ Yes, I posted this first photo as a sneak peek already but I couldn’t stand not showing it again. Definitely one of my favorites from the year!

The Fine Print:
Sessions must be booked with me during the months of November/December, for a session to be held anytime before May 2010.
Newborn sessions must be completed within the first 2 weeks after returning home from the hospital.
All sessions are subject to minimum print commitments, due at the time of booking.
Prints and specialty items are not included.
Sessions must take place within 30 minutes of Austin, Texas or will be subject to travel fees.
