{the one} about dollies | austin portrait photographer

I recently had a photography session with two of the cutest little dollies around!   These girls were just gorgeous!  Mom and I both live in Leander but were torn on whether to head into Austin for an urban shoot, or out to one of Georgetown’s beautiful parks for a more organic shoot.  As we talked more about her home and style, she described herself as ‘reincarnated from someone who lived in the 1930’s/40’s’.  The to me was choice was clear.  We definitely needed nature.   The park was spring green and the lake full. We couldn’t have made a better choice or picked a more gorgeous day!

{the one} about my babies | austin’s children’s photographer

I recently purchased a {relatively} small arsenal of new equipment to better my studio sessions. While I typically work with natural light only, I do need lights with many of my newborn sessions and a full studio setup when I do the occasional cake smash session. Since I have several of both of these scheduled in the upcoming weeks,  I immediately went to work learning how to incorporate everything when the {wonderful} UPS man dropped off my new toys. After I had exhausted practicing on the Happy Feet penguin, I pulled in larger recruits… My kids, the poor dears.  They are so tired of me and my camera.  Such is the life of a child of a photographer!

{the one} where we meet Tyler | austin senior photography

I got into the photography {like most children’s photographers} because of my kids.  I drove them up the wall!  I literally carried my camera everywhere and took pictures of everything that they did.  Once I began to hear the whispers of how exactly they planned to destroy my camera, I moved on to other people’s kids. At least they only see me a couple times a year right? So off into the child photography world I went. It’s what I knew and loved.  A year ago, I was pretty sure that I didn’t want to work with newborns.   In chatting with my online photog forum friends, it seemed like much harder work and very difficult to master. But when the first expecting mommy came along and hired me, I was IN love! So that got me to thinking… what else could I potentially love and don’t know it yet? Engagements, Boudoir, Weddings, Seniors… Well I’m currently trying them ALL and here you get to see my first jump into the world of high school seniors.

I. Loved. It.
Loooooved it!

Seriously, the moment I completed editing, I was looking into ways to get more more more! Did anyone know that seniors don’t run the other way to the nearest playscape ~or~ throw goldfish crackers at you? OOOh now, don’t get me wrong.  I will forever love my kidlet clients.  BUT, and I hope you agree, I feel I may have a knack for this ;) and plan on stepping up this portion of my portfolio this year.

Now meet Tyler. He was totally up for anything and everything and we had a great time wandering all around downtown Austin. He even kept it on cue when people were cat calling to him from the other side of 6th street! HA!! He was awesome! Thanks Tyler!

Keep your eyes open Class of 2010, for some senior casting calls and contests soon!

{the one} where we meet baby Wade | leander newborn photographer

Meet 7-week old newborn, Wade. He is Leander’s newest little heart-throb. This mellow little guy had the deepest blue eyes I think I’ve ever photographed! He was truly taken with the bright window behind me, streaming a flood of natural light, so he did everything he could to stay awake for the full session. We did manage do get him asleep after an hour or so but it was short lived, as my camera clicks sparked him back awake. I even caught a “blooper” shot, that I giggle over every time I see it.
